Albimix Foods is a KFC franchisee within the YUM! Brands Group, running 8 stores across Gauteng with 351 employees. One of Jem's legacy clients, they started with Earned Wage Access, then became one of the first to adopt Payslips and Communications when Jem launched them.
Printing and disbursing payslips cost Albimix R57,600 a year. With no direct line of communication to the whole workforce, HR was fielding 60+ payslip, policy and promotion queries a month, and spending over 40 hours processing them across the group's 8 stores.
Digital payslips replaced printing entirely, and WhatsApp gave HR a direct channel to every employee for policy updates, promotions and announcements. Earned wage access gave staff a way to access money they'd earned without turning to costly lenders.
Albimix now saves R38,500 a year that used to go on printing and distributing payslips. The HR manager gets 40 hours a month back, and employee queries have dropped by 98%. Staff check Jem on their own initiative, logging in over lunch on the in-store WiFi, and EWA now puts an estimated R1.4 million back into employees' pockets each year.

“Our employees love it! When they are on lunch, they log into the WiFi in the store and check out what is going on in Jem, without us asking them to. They check it themselves, and they are excited to see if there are any updates for the day. I can't tell you how much you have helped us.”
