Project Overview: Frankwen Forge

Frankwen Forge (FF) South Africa's leading steel forging and ring rolling facility that services a multitude of industries, including mining, power, petrochemical, marine and general engineering. They pay their manufacturing staff on a weekly basis and thus, payroll is run every week.

The company was looking for a convenient and cost-effective way to send payslips to their frontline employees, communicate, and issue loans.

Challenges

  • Printing and disbursing payslips cost the company R70k annually in printing and paper expenses alone i.e. R13.60 per payslip excluding labour and delivery. Preparation would take 3 hours weekly, and result in numerous queries. 
  • Communications were primarily carried out through posters scattered across 11 divisions in the factory. 
  • Received 5 loan requests a week but could not administer a loan under R2k because of the admin intensive process.
